Our Vision & God's Purpose
We are a Christian servant ministry making an impact in the lives of homeless and those in need in Manchester, New Hampshire
Our purpose is to live out God’s instruction as set forth in Matthew 25:40. “…Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of Mine, you did for Me.”
For years, 1269 Café Ministries which founded and is still led by Craig and Mary Chevalier, has been a Christ-Centered place that serves the homeless and others on the edge if not fully cast out from the rest of society.
Within the former St. Casmir School at 456 Union Street we provide hot meals, showers, clothing, laundry service, short term storage lockers, kind words, and onsite support services such as medical care, recovery meetings, counseling, and job training/placement all in a safe and wholesome environment for those in need.
We have implemented a transformational living program, with 24 single resident occupancy rooms to help the once chronically homeless, providing them with affordable or no-cost housing in newly built out spaces.
Many of the people we serve suffer from substance use disorder, mental illness, and horrible traumas during their youth, making them one of the most difficult populations to serve. Our program utilizes case management and wrap around care to addresses those issues and others associated with chronic homelessness i.e., poor physical health, lack of general life skills, inability to retain employment, and lack of fiscal responsibility.
For someone to qualify for our transformational living program they must be homeless, willing to take steps towards sobriety, willing to work on mental health stability, willing to contribute hours daily to help maintain building upkeep, and demonstrate a true desire to break the patterns of homelessness, addiction, and illness in their lives.
None of our Board Members or Directors take any Salary or Stipend. Some of our Residents and Employees earn a modest hourly stipend or salary to support their ability to save and move towards full independence.
We are financially dependent on the grace and giving of our supporters
